Create higher value content that enthralls, entertains and CONVERTS
It's tough to think of new content ideas that are going to create real value for your students and followers - while also reaching new followers/potential leads with something new and interesting. You've already done a post about this technique or that technique, this issues/this solution - how the hell do people create DAILY content that actually enthralls and converts their audience?
The SLOW BURN content system does exactly that.
More than that, we're going to create a FAMILY TREE of content from one single piece of content.
Let's say you've got one broad idea for a YouTube video or Blog Post.
Let's use my voice coaching studio as an example, and say my content idea is "how to sing high notes".
Now, I could go ahead and record a YouTube video about this topic - but then what do I do tomorrow? I mean, singing high notes is my whole business, right - and I've already blown the bulk of my content right there.
I don't want to create watered down, weak content, so I just go for it in the video and lay it all on the line.
Crickets.
Noone is interested.
What the hell do I do now? It's back to the drawing board trying to find new and more interesting content ideas - the worst thing you can do here is jump on trends and fads in desperation.
Instead, we're going to use the Slow Burn/Family Tree content system to create 10x the amount of content from one idea, 10x our reach, and 10x the impact that our original "root" content makes - and the best thing, is that it all leads back to your 'root' content that gives incredible value and converts your fans into students.
Oh, and did I mention just like a tree, the impact your content makes just keeps growing and growing and growing the healthier the tree becomes?
It looks a little something (in fact, exactly) like this -Â
If you're creating content the same as in the example above - one idea straight into a video or blog, then a new idea into the next video or blog and so forth; it's akin to a tree with no branches.
No birds will sit on the branches (because there is none) no flowers and pollen will attract the insects (because there is none) and there's no branches for squirrels and wildlife to enjoy (because there is none) - and there's definitely not going to be any students hanging around looking to work with you.
Your video is going to get lost in the shuffle and will still have <200 views in a couple of months as the tree starts dying and you start desperately throwing fertilizer (paid advertising) at the problem hoping that something change.
Because your content is no different to a lifeless telephone pole sticking out of the ground - no matter how great it is, and how much you spend on it, and no matter your expertise and experience.
Now, imagine shoots, branches, seeds, leaves and LIFE in your tree - we've now got the Family Tree content system.
This is really a two way system, and that's the brilliance - not only does one 'root' content idea create exponential content for you - it all feeds back into the main body of your tree and results in real students, real sales and real conversions.
Oh yeah, and your students are going to love it.Â
Let's say I write a blog post about my example above "how to sing high notes" - in my post, I'm no doubt going to talk about support, vowels, tone, musculature and warming up, right?
These are our stems.
Take your initial idea and content piece (you don't even have to have created the first piece of content yet) and split it down into 5 supporting points;
Root
- How to sing high notes (blog)
Stem
- Breath Support
- Vowels
- Tone
- Musculature
- Warming up
Now, we're going to double down on each of these supporting stems with TWO headlines for each concept.
Our initial idea or root content now becomes 10x
"How changing my support helped me high notes"
"I hit the highest note ever using this support technique"
"How vowel and pitch is related"
"Your VOWELS effect how high you can sing"
"Your vocal tone effects how high you can sing"
"Using this tone will have you singing higher notes in a jiffy"
"Can't hit high notes? Find your CT muscle"
"Connect head and chest with the TA and CT muscles"
"The right way to warm up"
"I used to warm up the WRONG way - don't make this mistake"
Now, it's really up to the feel of each of these headlines how you're going to use them - some can be more YouTube videos, more blog posts, Instagram content or even short form videos for YouTube/IG/TikTok etc.
Most of this content is simply going to funnel back into the original root content. For example, you share a post on instagram from one of the ideas above like "Supporting your breath will help you sing higher notes" - a simple image of a singer with overlaid text. There is further development on this idea within the description of the image and a link to the full video on YouTube or the full tutorial on your blog <- Free, ongoing traffic. This not only creates a crossover in your audience, it also alerts your followers that you've got a new tutorial or video and also gets them engaged with your content.
Same thing the following day - take one of your supporting concepts/headlines and create more content, let's say a short on YouTube. We'll use "how your vowel is related to pitch" where you elaborate briefly and give a demonstration - this also feeds back into the original root content.
And we continue our family tree branching out from our original roots, but ultimately feeding back to our main channel or website.
All of a sudden, you've got 10 traffic channels for that one initial piece of content - all drumming up goodwill with your prospects and creating ongoing, evergreen traffic to your main content.
It doesn't stop there.
I used to call this the 1-10 content system until the sheer amount of content I was managing to create with this system really got out of hand.
Have a look through your reviews and testimonials for any that are related to the 5 supporting 'stems'.
"Kegan helped me sing higher notes using vowels"
Take a screenshot and put it on your Instagram.
Boom - that one directs right back to the initial "root" YouTube video or blog where I take the viewer through the process of singing higher notes.
Even better this time however, because it was prompted by an external review - social proof that this really works.
The viewer that saw the review about singing higher notes on Instagram, then watched the full video on YouTube or blog is going to get MUCH more out of this video than a casual viewer.
After all, they already know you're the real deal and this WORKS - they're actually excited to watch your video instead of approaching it with skepticism.
Do this again and again with scheduled posts that direct back to this content over time, and you'll have a 'slow burn' video that rivals Breaking Bad - you'll have 'foliage' posts that filter through to the original root content scheduled out months from now.
But it doesn't stop there, oh no.
Any one of these ideas or headlines created from our original root content can be turned into it's own root to create a forest of content.
Say we take one of the headlines above about supporting the voice and create a YouTube video specifically about breath support.
Start the whole cycle over again by splitting this down into 5 supporting points, spread them out over 10 headlines and continue feeding and growing your forest of family trees.
The more you do this, the more varied your content becomes, because you'll have more than one family tree growing at the same time.
Every new day will bring new, exciting content for your viewers that all lead them back through the social funnel into your root content that has a CTA encouraging deeper engagement with you on a personal level.
* You're going to be knocking back the sheer amount of leads that come your way with this content system.
* You'll never scramble for new content ideas, or struggle to release weekly and monthly content on your chosen platforms.
* Your fans and viewers will be engaged and entertained with regular, highly valuable content.
* Your online presence will grow exponentially as your forest grows and the furthest reach of your foliage draws new fans and students right back to your root content over and over again.
I stopped running paid advertising altogether when I started implementing this simple but powerful content strategy.
